How to Make a Small Basket Weave Bracelet

small basket weave rainbow loom

When we first set our eyes on the Small Basket Weave design, we knew that we had to give it a try. It looks similar to the Double Braid, which we love!

Creativity4Kids came up with this incredible pattern. Here’s how it looks on the looms once it has been hooked (we used three looms!):

Creativity4Kids‘s instructions are clear, however the video is sometimes difficult to follow.  It would have been easier to follow along if the camera was zoomed in closer on the Rainbow Loom. Because of this, you will need to watch this tutorial on a tablet or iPad. It would be extremely difficult to follow along with an iPhone or small screen device.

*Update Creativity4Kids has a new video for the Small Basket Weave!!!! Check it out:

I made it with only one loom. Just follow the instructions then add the original to finish it off. Oh, and instead of using a slip knot, I just added a c clip

I just think to use the amount of looms that could help fit your hand. I only need two looms and I was able to make my small basket weave.

Hi LoomLove! I love your website, and I log on almost everyday to see if you’ve posted anything new. I like your website most because not only do you have an immense catalog of patterns, you also have some of the prettiest example bracelets and pictures of bracelets on the web. I was hoping you could link me to where you got your metallic bands? You use a lot of them in this pattern, and you use them in a lot of other patterns to create some awesome dimension. Like in your Arrow Stitch, Stripetopia, Pencil Charm, Mickey Mouse/deadmou5, and Confetti Criss Cross. (Just to name a few. lol)
So, if you answer this, can you please link me to your supplier?! I don’t know that my bracelets will ever turn out like yours, but I’d like some good metallic bands to try. 🙂
    All our love from Delaware!

Hi Katie Mae! So glad you are enjoying LoomLove.com! Re: Metallic bands – we were super lucky and found some at our local dollar store. We also just purchased some from Amazon.com. They come in a package with other metallic bands (gold, copper etc.). We highly recommend this package! Here is the link.

Thank you so much for replying so quickly! This site is the best. Haha I think my parents are sick of hearing me talk about LoomLove and their bracelets lol. Thank you so much! I’m recommending this site to EVERYONE I know!!

Do you think that this pattern is easier or more diffucult than the Warrior? I tried the Double Braid and the bands snapped constently. When I saw this bracelet it looked way harder just by the look of it. Any advice or suggestions would be good!

  3. A-girl says:

This looks like a double-band inverted fishtail. I might try making this on one loom, or maybe I’ll just make a double-band inverted fishtail and call it a Small Basket Weave. 😀

What is Justin’s toys video called cuz I have the fun loom and I can’t find anymore of that brand at Walgreens

  6. Angela Ryan says:

For those who say it doesn’t end properly they need to watch the video through to the end. It tells you what to do with the bands on the second last pin in the middle. Once I sorted this my bracelets were fine!! Can do this one now really quickly!!!

  7. Addi says:

For your example, did you use double bands? I was wondering because it wasn’t very clear if she did in the video.

  8. Carol says:

I watched twice the video and it seems you are using double rubber bands on some and not others, but I didn’t hear you mention that

    Hi Loom Love,
You guys are SO good at Rainbow Loom! There are loads of bracelets that I would like to make, but usually don’t have time to. You guys must have a lot of free time.
By the way, how do (almost) all your bracelets turn out so well? And how many Rainbow Looms do you have? Where do you get all your bands? I live in Ohio and there is a Michaels near my house and there is a place in the front, where there are stacks of Rainbow Looms as well as bands.
I go to your website probably every day now, to check on Rainbow Loom and comment on how cool the bracelets are.

    • Rachel says:

to make the small basket you will need about 600 rubber bands. To make a large one you will need about 2500 rubber bands. You can find both the small, and the large basket on Craft Life’s channel.

This is such a beautiful design! Could you please share with us the color pattern you used in your version of this bracelet? The one in the video had a black border but yours had all colors mashed together. I like your version better 🙂 thanks!

This is awesome! I love how it looks. I did it with two looms and just had to put on a small extension.
